For mother’s day, we sat down with these 2 Bandit mamas to hear more about balancing their careers with being a mom.
Read their interviews below!
How do you manage work life balance being a mama?
I’m not sure I do!
I ask myself this everyday. I think that’s the key to “balance” with everything in your life. With balance comes getting off balance, and reminding yourself that first and foremost- it’s normal to feel crazy, off kilter and confused. Everyday I adjust to getting back in balance, a re-check…. not some easy continuous flow. Some days i feel like i can barely brush my own damn teeth- others i feel unstoppable in the amount i can achieve. Mothers with careers will always feel torn in two different spheres… at work we are missing the “moments” we can never get back (first steps, first taste of avocado, first belly laugh)… at home, we can often feel stuck in groundhog day, and feeling like we aren’t accomplishing real sh*t (though raising a human is quite possibly the hardest job… ever). Everyday I wake up and remind myself to be present in whatever my tasks are…. do them well with intention… and every moment you get to be with your child, enjoy every fucking second of it. They are our future… what greater honor to have than bringing them up right.

The Stylist
To call Sonoma-based Amy Soderlind your typical stylist would be a bold-faced fib; in fact, with her bohemian hallmarks and lively style, she may be the furthest thing from it. When we first spotted the 28-year-old flaxen-haired pro, we knew she was someone we had to shoot the breeze with. And, boy, are we glad we did — her free-spirited, West Coast-Zen take on fashion and life is infectious, bringing an air of kindness and humility to everything she does, whether it’s traveling through Africa, stomping the grounds of local-music festivals, or recounting her thoughts on her lovely blog Refuses to Label.
Travel Inspiration: Amy Soderlind in Bali
Amy Soderlind is a great friend of the Free People family and personally she is a huge source of inspiration. She is beautiful on the inside and out, and the way that she writes and sees things is so refreshing and real. She also happens to be a stylist so it’s no surprise that she puts together the most inspiring outfits! Amy wrote me a little while back to tell me she was going to Bali to work on her own jewelry and accessories line, and will work with small groups of artisans globally to create unique one of a kind pieces, giving back 50% of the profits to community development. She sent along some photos from her trip, and she is wearing Free People so beautifully, as you’ll see below. I couldn’t wait to share them!
These Common Mistakes May Be Preventing You from Having Personal Style

We’re all looking for the getup that reads confident, unique, trendy, and totally you. So, what exactly is preventing you from living your most stylish life?! It can be a whole range of reasons, so we caught up with one of our favorite stylists, Amy Soderlind, to find out just how exactly to take risks and trust ourselves to achieve the personal style we dream of.
After a tragic fire, Amy Soderlind gets a new modern nursery
A beautiful example of light, love, and resiliency, Amy Soderlind‘s story is an absolutely must-read. The freelance stylist and mother of two sons (Myles Adriannus, 4, and Sol Nash, 1), went through one of the most horrific periods of her life just one year ago, when the devastating Tubbs Fire—the most destructive wildfire in California history—woke her family of four up in the middle of the night, forcing them to evacuate their home in just minutes.
1 Girl, 4 Looks: A Local Boho Babe Shows Off Her Summer-To-Fall Must-Haves
There’s no denying that stylist-slash-blogger Amy Soderlind is definitely one boho babe on the rise. Easy, breezy festival fashion looks
Sonoma County Stylist Amy Soderlind shows us her “Daytime Gypsy Woman” look. “It’s important to bring layers because no matter what kind of music festival, the sun will go down. I keep these spandex, cropped barrettes on hand so I don’t have to wear a bra. You can easily throw something over them.
About a Girl: Amy Soderlind of San Francisco
Not long before I went to San Francisco for Outside Lands, one of my co-workers sent me a link to a blog that she thought was worth checking out, called Refuses to Label. I clicked on the link and spent the next hour or so perusing the inspirational posts and photos on the blog. The writer, Amy Soderlind, is a stylist and writer living right outside of San Francisco on a beautiful farm. Her style is impeccable and I love her poetic way of writing – check out some photos below, along with a writeup about what she loves most about her city.

Summer Style Inspiration from Amy Soderlind
I first became acquainted the lovely Amy Soderlind, a Northern California based stylist, about a year ago, when a coworker passed along her inspiring blog. Although we missed each other when I was in San Fran last summer, she did a lovely guest post for the Free People blog and we’ve kept in touch ever since. She’s an old soul with an amazing spirit and kind heart – it pours out in the way she writes and carries herself. She recently moved into an incredible new home – a water tower on a 33 acre vineyard/rose garden farm in NorCal, and did this beautiful photo shoot on the property wearing FP items that she styled, shot by Australian photographer Chelsea Millunchick, who she has recently started working with.
